Though you’ve already mentionned to me before the spaghetti western/zombie/bruce lee story, I really see you working on the Americaneer. It’s a great overall idea, and it fits well with the side of you that I have met.
Also, if you end up writing that story, I would like to make a small contribution. Has to do with the ending of a short story I wrote in English class, back in highschool. I’ll show you the story next time we see eachother.
As for regurgitating other great comic works, I think not. If anything, I’m sure that what you would end up writing would be more of an hommage, while mainting the cleverness and originality that only your mind can come up with…
