Camp Freddy[20050702]

The headline act of the Party on Wednesday was Camp Freddy, basically a Super Group composed of members of Jane’s Addiction, the Cult, Alice in Chains, Incubus, Sex Pistols, Donnas, and the beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, (did I mention beautiful) Gina Gersheron. They rocked, playing covers of many rock classics.

The only problem was the crowd, and here I blame Sun. First off they had way too much time between the opening acts and Camp Freddy. Yeah, this was to slot in some more Bird Of a Feather Sessions, except they totally lost the energy Zepperella dumped into the crowd. That and right-wing Dennis Miller’s set didn’t go over to well with the left-leaning and international developer’s crowd.

The international factor also contributed to the crowd’s lack of real rocking out, as I saw many Asians suffering some form of culture shock. It all added up to the crowd only really getting into it by the time Camp Freddy’s set ended. We chanted and they came back for one more song, but that was it. Next time, Sun, set the Birds of a Feather earlier, so the party can build and maintain momentum.
