My Home and Native Land[20050601]
God, I love Canada sometimes.
This morning as I was munching on my usual protein shake and melted cheese on toast, I surfed through the wasteland of morning television.

I land on CTV’s Canada AM.
“Let’s check in on Alex and Lynn’s wedding,” said the host.
Who? I thought.
The picture-box answered.
It was a scene that would stop a fundie’s heart.
Two gay dudes, in tuxes, a minister between mumbling solemn words. The padre then closes the book, and takes a step back. One of the two starts to blubber (hey I would to if I was forced to marry a dude, but I think he actually wanted to be there and they were happy tears). His new partner sweetly lisps “Oh, darling, its okay.”
And I burst out laughing. Cause I swear, while we Canadians love our southerly neighbors, its stunts like these that is our own way of saying “fuck you”. Think about it. For the last four years, we have had wave after wave of on-air morning show weddings from the American stations. Leave it up to CTV to have the first homosexual one.
Even more interesting? The dudes were American reality show contestants who couldn’t get married at home.
Freedom’s on the march fundies. Watch out.
